Riverbank, Stanislaus County
Riverbank sits on the south bank of the Stanislaus River, where a ferry crossing operated in Gold Rush days. The Santa Fe railroad made it a division point in the early 1900s, and the city incorporated in 1922. Each October the downtown streets fill for the Riverbank Cheese and Wine Exposition, a festival that began in 1977 and recalls the cheese plants and wineries that once operated here.
